Atal Pension Yojana 2024 (APY Form)
The Central Government has launched the Atal Pension Yojana (Swavalamban Yojana) as a pension scheme for the unorganized sector. Under this scheme, all subscribers will be provided a minimum monthly pension amount ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month after retirement. Under the Atal Pension Yojana 2024-24, the government will contribute 50% of the subscriber's contribution or ₹1000 per annum (whichever is lower) for 5 years. Eligibility Criteria for Atal Pension Yojana
To avail the benefits of the Atal Pension Yojana, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- All subscribers must be Indian citizens.
- The applicant's age should be between 18 and 40 years.
- The minimum contribution period for Atal Pension Yojana is 20 years, after which the Government of India will provide the guaranteed minimum pension.
- The applicant must have a savings bank account with an auto-debit facility.
- Aadhaar and mobile numbers are mandatory for KYC of the beneficiary, spouse, and nominee. Apart from address proof, candidates can submit a ration card or bank passbook.
- If the applicant starts membership at the age of 40 years, they will have to contribute for a period of 20 years.
- The applicant should not be an income tax payer. This scheme is primarily designed to help those working in the unorganized sector, self-employed individuals, etc.
- The Government of India will link this scheme with the PM Jan Dhan Yojana so that contributions can be deducted from bank accounts.
- All candidates can choose a monthly pension option between ₹1000 and ₹5000 and ensure regular monthly contributions. Additionally, people have the option to increase or decrease their pension amount once a year (in the month of April).

- First, visit the official website enps.nsdl.com for registration.
- On the home page, click the "NATIONAL PENSION SYSTEM" button.
- After clicking the National Pension System link, click the "REGISTRATION" button.
- You will reach the New Registration page, where you need to enter your Aadhaar number, upload the Offline e-KYC XML File, and then click the "Continue" button.
- Once you complete the first step and click the Continue button, the registration form will open in front of you.
- Now, fill in your personal details, family details, and generate a receipt number. After generating the Receipt ID, enter bank/branch details and account number for bank verification.
- Next, fill in the pension amount, contribution frequency, nominee details, and upload supporting documents, and make the payment to complete the Atal Pension Yojana online registration process.
- If the registration process is successful, the bank will debit your account for the first membership and generate a Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN). Finally, the candidate can e-sign the Atal Pension Yojana online form for verification.
Note: You can download the Paperless Aadhaar eKYC XML file from https://resident.uidai.gov.in/offline-kyc, and if you cannot follow this process, you can also choose the Permanent Account Number (PAN) under the "Register With" option.

In the new updates made in the Atal Pension Yojana, APY subscribers can now change their contribution amount at any time during a year. Before July 1, 2020, subscribers were only allowed to make changes in the next tranche during the month of April.
From July 1, 2020, banks have resumed auto-debiting contributions from Atal Pension Yojana (APY) subscribers' accounts. Earlier, this auto-debit facility was suspended by banks during the lockdown period but has now been resumed.
Atal Pension Scheme June Update
From July 1, 2020, banks will resume auto-debiting contributions from Atal Pension Yojana (APY) subscribers' accounts. As you know, the circular (Ref No: PFRDA/2020/8/P&D-APY/1) dated April 11, 2020, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) had directed banks to suspend the auto-debit for APY contributions till June 30, 2020. Accordingly, the auto-debit for APY contributions will resume from July 1, 2020.
The latest PFRDA communication also stated that if the subscriber's pension account is regularized before September 30, 2020, no penal interest will be charged. "No penal interest will be charged on your non-deducted APY contributions from April-2020 to August-2020, if regularized with regular APY contributions before September 30, 2020."
